Since starting my Live Journal blog in April '08 my thoughts on writing have changed. At first this was merely an outlet to release my hyper-active mind of the pressure created by the countless thoughts-of-my-day. Now I see it as a means to improve my writing and fine tune my style. I have no aspirations other than being a better writer and communicator.

I think too much about everything, big and small. Random thoughts pop into my head, filling my brain, getting tangled with other musings creating pressure that makes it hard to concentrate on life's daily chores. It's amazing I get anything done. Writing is like opening a spigot to release those thoughts. It doesn't matter if no one reads this shit. It's out there, and once I write something my mind is able to close that case and move on to the next, often more mundane or ridiculous.

Sometimes my ruminations are serious business about my life or the larger world, other times it's no more than tongue-in-cheek ramblings.

My topics come from everywhere, people I know, conversations I've had, from the news, current events or some absurdity in the world. Everything is fair game. The names have been changed to protect the innocent, and no-so-innocent. I write about my personal challenges and the things I love in life, baseball, blues, beer, music, food and my people.

Mature and intelligent conversation is hard to find these days. Most people are too busy in their own little world to bother thinking beyond the boundaries of their life. If they do venture off the reservation they avoid my favorite topics, the taboo issues of politics, religion, gender, race, sex and all those juicy issues people won't tackle in polite conversation. Polite = boring.

I'm not politically correct, I'll toss a few expletives and I'll say what I think. The truth is not always pretty but as long as what I say is honest I don't give a damn if someone is offended. I also appreciate jokes based on stereotypes. Some may seem unfair, generalizations, but stereotypes are not invented. They're based on real observation. We're adults. There's no Constitutional right to not be offended. I'm not insensitive, I use a reasonable amount of tact, but if it gets in the way of my message, tact goes out the window.

Nearly everything I write is non-fiction, mostly commentary, some stories from my life and a fair amount of satire and cynical rants. Most of that is in jest. Sarcasm may be the lowest form of wit...but it's funny.

I've been reading books about writing that have changed how I view this writing avocation of mine. I don't write for anyone but myself but anyone is welcome to read my stuff. If you happen to read something in my blog that makes you laugh, think again, or consider the possibility that I'm the village idiot....please feel free to comment. I'd like to hear from anyone with the same infliction, a hyperactive mind and need to vent. I'm considering the possibility this is a mental illness.

I'm divorced

A father of two adult sons.

I'm in a long term relationship.

I'm a relocated Rhode Islander living in desert suburbia.

I work with automated manufacturing technology, designing, programming and building all kinds of things.

I'm a politically independent atheist.

I don't join clubs or follow the herd.

I believe people are far more important than material or money,.......especially our kids.
